DAY 7 British Museum, High Tea and Westminster Walk

I visited the British Museum in the morning followed by a High Tea at the nearby Bloomsbury Hotel.  In the evening I did the London Walks "Westminster by Gaslight" version.

The British Museum was really a walk through and I have attached a few pictures of their Egyptian collection to give you a flavor of the walk through.  My main interest was their Egyptian collection as a follow-up to our trip. There are some cat mummies at the bottom. I don't recall seeing a Pharoah depicted as a lion.

The High Tea was in the Coral Room of the Bloomsbury Hotel and quite tasty.

The Westminster walk was in the evening and not really by Gaslight until the very end. The clock tower has been refurbished but Big Ben is not yet chiming. The Parliament building is also beginning a refurbishment inside and temporary office space is being arranged.

Of interest, the panel above the doors at this end of Westminster Abbey are of 20th century martyrs.  The guide said they had been carved into the stone and look older than they are.

We also saw a few of the Blue Plaques and took a walk on the other side of the Thames.  There is a long memorial wall for COVID victims along this area. If you look closely you can also see the red color of the wall to the left of the first picture.
